ROAM’s crazy Klinaklini River Expedition has been featured in an unprecedented 7-page article in the July edition of OUTSIDE magazine. The trip is one of the world’s most rare adventures and was covered by CNN travel editor, Chuck Thompson. It is a remarkably accurate assessment of our 2015 expedition which took some crazy twists and turns as the river re-routed itself after 2014 flooding.
Chuck had approached us wanting information about this little-known waterway and we pitched the trip as a “modern day, real life expedition” that differs much from canned itineraries found on many river trips. Legendary Patagonia clothing company founder, Yvon Chouinard, says that “adventure travel doesn’t really become adventurous until things go wrong”. He also says, “doing risk sports had taught me another lesson: Never exceed your limits. You push the envelope, and you live for those moments when you’re right on the edge, but you don’t go over. You have to be true to yourself; you have to know your strengths and limitations and live within your means”.
